Subtitle: What I’ve been up to lately . . .

I’ve been having a blast! In the last couple of months, I have:

Celebrated our 13 year anniversary and his birthday with my husband.

. . . at the Benson Hotel, where we spent our wedding night 13 (and a half) years ago. SURE, our anniversary is actually November 22nd, however we couldn’t seem to get away to Portland until March, which was perfect, since we could get a 2-fer and celebrate Mitch’s birthday at the same time!

. . . and met Manu Ginobili . . . who is apparently some famous basketball player who plays for the Spurs. We ran into him in a coffee shop in Portland (the Blazers kicked their butts in a thrilling victory the night before) and Mitch recognized him right away. We got a picture of the two of them. Mitch is almost as tall as Manu! Kinda funny!

. . . where I enjoyed every second of every minute with my amazing husband. I am SO blessed!

Watched my second grader race his heart out!

. . . our small down has a fundraiser called The Dragon Run, which is a fun opportunity for the kids to run in a “who’s fastest”, unofficial race. Mostly, it’s about having fun and raising funds. It was HUGE this year, and we had a blast watching our boy. He ended up coming in second in his age group, but the boy who came in first is a full year older than him, so I like to call him the fastest 7-year-old in Dallas. Hours later, he said, “Mom, I think that Aaron is actually the fastest, but he ran in the 5k with his dad.” HA!! Oh, that child is so precious to me!! Humble, too! Okay, so maybe he is, and maybe he isn’t the fastest 7 year old in Dallas, but he sure is the BEST!! (Not that I’m biased!)

Celebrated Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday

. . . our church had a wonderful Holy Week! Palm Sunday was a time for celebration, and that evening Jews For Jesus came and did a Passover Feast demonstration/presentation for us. It was so incredible to see and hear about such a significant feast that our Lord celebrated and FULFILLED, especially since we understand it all the more due to our Bible in 90 Days reading. The Good Friday service was thoughtful and reverent, while Easter Sunday was another day of celebration. Amazing, amazing stuff. I was so blessed by the whole week and the knowledge of the incredible gift my Lord gave me when He sent His Son to die for my sins and then fulfill the prophecy by rising from the grave. Incredible!

Gone to Women’s Retreat

. . . where I rode a zipline/big swing thingy (with a harness and all that, so not an actual sit on swing, but WAY more extreme than that) like Tinkerbell. Yes. Like Tinkerbell. Actually, as I was being cranked up to the top of the zipline thingy, I rode it like Tinkerbell, but then when it was time to pull the cord, I was SUPER brave and swung out ala Peter Pan. You know, like when he just kinda floats in the air with his arms and legs straight out to the side? I’m not gonna lie. It totally freaked me out. However, my goal was to conquer a fear (plus the adrenaline rush), and that wasn’t going to happen if I scrunched into a tiny ball while hurling into the abyss. And, I only kinda screamed.

. . . where I tried Zumba for the first time. Again, I’m not gonna lie to you. It wasn’t easy. Sure, it was FUN, and it’s not like the moves were all that hard, but it lasted FOR.EV.ER. Like, 45 minutes or something. Ugh. I kept looking at the clock thinking, “WHEN is this going to END!?” When it comes to exercise, I’m all about getting it OVER with. Which is why I like running. Run 3 miles in 30 minutes (or less). Get from point A to point B and you are done. However, I bought a Groupon for a local Zumba class, and I’m going to the first one tonight!! I’m hoping the party atmosphere makes me forget that I’m exercising. At women’s retreat there were a bunch of ladies lined up along the back wall watching us get our Zumba on, so it felt like I was on display (especially since I had to be in the front almost the whole time since NO one wanted to move to the front and that was where there was the most room to spread out!!) and NOT like a party. I’m hoping for dimmed lights tonight.

. . . came down with an ugly rash all over my face. Well, not ALL over my face but close. And it was UGLY. I think I have it narrowed down to mangoes. See, apparently some people are allergic to the skin or sap or something on mangoes, and I am one of them. I was cutting up cheap mangoes right before I left for retreat, and the I cut up some more when I got back. Somewhere in there, I might have touched my chin, and I definitely popped some pieces in my mouth and gnawed on the pit. A rash ensued. Benadryl is my friend. I’m cured.

Took a Cheese Making Class

. . . which I will have to post about as soon as I buy my raw milk and actually TRY it for myself! Courage, Kelleigh!! :)

Started Running Again

. . . which I do a couple of times a month. The starting part. I start a couple of times a month. Which, I suppose means that I never really STOPPED running, but that I have only been running a few times a month and haven’t been very consistent. My plan is to stay consistent!! I sure do love it!

And now, here we are. You are all caught up, I suppose.

One thing that I am struck by lately is how HAPPY I am. I was talking to Mitch about that last night, and we were reflecting on how much I have changed over the years. I hope I’ve changed for the better, but I can definitely tell you that I am happier. More content. I’m satisfied. I love my life and I love my husband and my boys. I love what God is doing in me and with me, and I’m excited to find out how he is going to use me next. I’ve been feeling like there is something greater coming for me, and part of me is anxious to figure out what it is while the other part of me is trying to just be still. I’m enjoying the ride of LIFE!! I hope that you are, too!
