Free Toilet Paper and Free Bacon!

2 April 2011 3,409 views 2 Comments

I’m experiencing a SERIOUS coupon high right now!

Let me show you what I did. First, Rite Aid:

I had some +UP rewards that were going to expire today, so I figured that I would grab some toilet paper. The Quilted Northern is on “sale” (yeah, right!) for $6.49, but they were all out, so they price-matched the Cottonelle! I also used a raincheck for the Motrin PM @ $3 each (from last week). I used (2) $6/2 MCs and a $1/1 Rite Aid Video Value coupon, which made the Motrin a $1 moneymaker, PLUS I received four $1 +UPs on my receipt for buying these. I paid with my soon-to-be-expired +UPs and 98¢ Out of Pocket, and I still have those $4 +UPs. I like to think of that as FREE toilet paper!

Note:

The Motrin PM is NOT a good deal this week. I’ve never paid anything for these, and you shouldn’t, either!

Also, $6.49 is NOT a good price for toilet paper. I have never figured out my cost per sq. ft. or anything else like that, but my “rule” is that I won’t pay more than $3 for a 12 pack, double roll, super soft and bottom friendly toilet paper. $2.50 is my target price. Of course, I prefer it when I get it for FREE using +UPs or something like that, but I have paid money OOP for toilet paper before. Check out this trip, or this trip (no pictures, but I rocked it), or this one (which I ended up doing several times, even though I didn’t mention it.) There was an awesome toilet paper stock up opportunity in October (at Safeway), but apparently I didn’t share pics. I did post about it, though! ($1.98 per 12-pack).

While I’m talking about Rite Aid and rainchecks and all that, I thought I’d show you what I did a couple of days ago.

Aw, yeah.

I’m telling you: If you haven’t started playing the drug store game in your area, you NEED to figure it out. Rite Aid, Walgreens and CVS are amazing stores with amazing rewards programs. The Krazy Coupon Lady has been posting video tutorials on how to shop the stores lately, and they are definitely worth the time to watch.

On to the BACON score! Wahooo! My friend gave me some of her bacon coupons, so I was determined to use them.

I did this in 3 transactions, and used my McCormick’s Catalinas.

T1:
3 McCormick’s pepper grinders
1 bacon
Used (3) $1/1 McCormick’s coupons
Used $1/1 bacon coupon
Used doubler for -$2.00
Used previously earned McCormick’s Catalina
Paid 49¢ Out of Pocket
Earned another $2.50 Cat.

T2:
2 Bacon
2 Yakisoba
Used 2 bacon coupons and (2) $.50/1 Yakisoba coupons
Used doubler for -$2
Used previously earned Catalina
Paid 48¢ OOP

T3:
2 Bacon
2 Yakisoba
Used 2 bacon coupons and (2) $.50/1 Yakisoba coupons
Used doubler for -$2
Used previously earned Catalina
Paid 48¢ OOP

I’d like to think the bacon part of the deal was free. Fair?

I’m giddy! I can stop buying bacon now, right? Hopefully we are stocked up through the summer! :)

Love your excitement and sharing! It is so much fun to get so much for so little. I have fallen a bit off the extreme couponing wagon, so it is fun to read about your steals!!

Zowie! You did good! I went with my sister to her Albertson’s store up on the Olympic Peninsula and we didn’t do anywhere close to what you did, but she still felt great because she saved 45%. :)
