Happy {i}NSD!! (That would be “Happy {inter}National Scrapbooking Day” for all you non-scrapping-obsessed types.)
I believe the really REAL {i}NSD is on May 1st, but we like to celebrate early and often at The Digichick. I can’t even believe all of the amazing sales that will be going on this entire month as The Digichick celebrates both {i}NSD and our 5th Birthday!! In the life of digi-scrap stores, that is a LONG time. In fact, The Digichick is one of the oldest and most established digital scrapbooking stores on the internet, and it has been home to most of the big-time digital designers at some point. The Digichick is my home on the web, and I love the gals who hang out there!! It cracks me up that most of my friends live in my computer, however their friendships are just as real to me as the buddy I shared tea with in my home last night!! Makes me feel like a total nerd, but it is SO true. I love them!!
ANYWHO! I have a new release for you today, and it is 30% off today (Fri) and tomorrow!! Usually, our new releases are only 20% off, but Nicole (aka Sugarplum Paperie, aka Girl Friday Studio, aka the owner of TDC and my “boss”) is getting all “sale happy”, so she marked it down by 30%. Hee, hee!!
Introducing, The Canister Box Template Set!! I love it. This is a set of 3 boxes in varying heights: approximately 2″, 4″ and 6″ high, with a width of about 3″. I think these would make the most perfect cookie holders for a teacher or anyone you want to bless. I made a bunch of cookies to show you how it would work, but I already ate them. Sorry about that. But, you can imagine how cute it would be!!

Assembling this adorable box is a snap!! Let me show you how!!
As always . . .
Before I get started, let me direct you to some pretty good tutorials (if I do say so myself!) found at The Hybrid Chick:
Where to Start – offers suggestions for basic materials to get you started with hybrid.
Using Templates – guides you through the process of using my templates from downloading to adding digital paper, and preparing to print.
Borderless Printing – shows you how to find your borderless printing option on your printer . . . or at least gets you headed in the right direction.
Now, print your project! Of course, you can use digital paper or simply print the lines only version on some of the patterned paper or cardstock in your stash.
For my project, I chose to print the lines only pdf version onto some two-sided textured cardstock by Close To My Heart. Okay, technically, I opened the pdf version in Photoshop so I could change the color of the lines to blend in a bit and not be so stark black. Please do this. Please. Big ol’ black lines are not so pretty. At the very least (if you don’t have access to Photoshop and are completely clueless as to how to use it), use the fast draft, light ink setting on your printer. Please. Hee, hee! (And, if that just isn’t working for you and you have big ol’ black lines, you can always sand them away with sand paper or ink the edges to make them blend in.)
I printed on the back of my cardstock and then used my bone folder to score on the dashed lines. If you don’t have a bone folder, you can always use one of the tines on a fork or a dull knife and a straight edge.
Next, cut on all of the solid lines. I used my new craft knife (yummy, huh?) so I could easily and quickly cut around all the curves. Scissors work, too!
Now, fold on all of the scored lines.
At this point, I flipped my template over and added some patterned paper by Close To My Heart to the front of each side panel.
Now, flip the template back over and add adhesive to the side flap to glue the whole thing in a round. I used both Tombow Mono Adhesive (tape runner) to get an immediate bond, and Beacon’s 3-in-1 glue for a more permanent bond.
This is what it should look like:
You with me so far?
Now, we are going to assemble the top. This is where it gets a little bit tricky, but I know you can handle it!! I mean, if I can figure this out, so can you.
Make sure you have folded on the scored lines of the lid VERY well. Bend them back and forth so they are pretty flexible. Now, match up the tops as shown in the picture, all the way around the box, making sure you are going in the same direction the whole time. The very last fold might be stubborn, but all you have to do is tuck the paper strip that is holding the top together IN (just like all the rest) and match up the tabs. Force it. You got that?

And, it will look like this:
Isn’t that so pretty??!!? Do you see why I love this box?
It was at this point that I realized that my project needed a little bit of blue, so I printed the bottom onto blue cardstock. I scored, cut and folded. Then, I applied some glue (wet and dry) to the petals and glued the bottom onto the box.
So pretty!! I used my Martha Stewart doily punch to add some decoration to the top edge of the box and stuck a pretty Prima flower on top!
This sample is the medium, 4″ size. I bet it could hold at least 6 cookies or more. OR, maybe a few pretty travel sized lotions for Mother’s Day!
