I know. I’m totally sick!! I went back to Safeway again this morning. However, in my defense, I knew I was going to be taking advantage of the Buy 2, Get 3 free promo on the cake mix, frosting, cookie mix and brownie mix. AND, I still needed to buy more cheese. So . . .
I paid $9.33 for all of this.
To put things in perspective for you, the cheese itself was $3.99 each (an amazing price for Tillamook), so essentially, I paid $7.98 for the cheese and $1.35 for the rest of it.
Tell me. When was the last time you paid $1.35 for Ziploc brand freezer bags? Hmm? A pretty good price. And, when you look at it like that, I paid $7.98 for the cheese, $1.35 for the freezer bags and the rest was FREE!!!
Of course, it didn’t exactly break down like that, but I’ll try to explain.
The Krazy Coupon Lady explains that “Buy 2, Get 3 Free” on the baked stuff essentially makes everything $1 each. THEN, you start matching up the coupons. KCL had some great scenarios and Frugal Living NW had a great one. Look in the comments to see what fits your coupons and ecoupons. I didn’t have ANY coupons from the Sunday paper, so I used all IP (Internet Printable) coupons. There are a ton of them out there. PLUS, there are peelies on the frosting for 25¢ off (which can be doubled). I didn’t use those, though, since I was trying to match the coupons up with the multitude of ecoupons loaded onto my card from Cellfire and Shortcuts. NICE. Technically, I paid .91¢ for all of that Betty Crocker. Which is good, since I have some little boy birthdays coming up, and I always need cake mix and frosting. As for the cookie mix and brownie mix . . . well, you remember my Frugal Hostess Gift, right? Hee, hee!
The Ziploc Freezer Bags are only $1.49 with the in-ad coupon. You have to MAKE SURE you are grabbing the right box, though. I messed up and grabbed the wrong one, and then had the hassle of returning it and blah, blah, blah. I used a .55¢/1 Internet Printable (from the same sites that had the Betty Crocker coupons), which could be doubled. I paid .44¢ for the Ziploc Freezer Bags!
The Hershey’s Special Dark were a total impulse buy at the check out stand. I noticed that they were Buy 2, Get 2 Free, and I knew that I had 4 Buy 1 Get 1 Free coupons in my binder (which, of course, was with me!). I pulled the coupons out right there in line, grabbed 8 candy bars and patted myself on the back!! Mitch LOVES dark chocolate, plus I think these will be great for smores while camping this summer. FREE chocolate, ladies. Who wouldn’t love that?
And now, I have $2 in my grocery envelope to last me until the 15th. Oops!! But, seriously. Did you expect me to pass up these deals??

I’m confused (happens easy)…
How was the chocolate free…
I saw buy 2 get 2 free
Then the buy 1 get 1 free coupon. But then I’m lost.

If you buy 2 and get two free, then you can use 2 BOGO coupons to get the 2 that you got for free . . . free! It works the same way as using a BOGO coupon on a BOGO sale. Two items free!
Don’t think too hard. Just try it! If, for some reason, that doesn’t work for you, then return them. But, there is no reason why it shouldn’t work!

So is your Safeway still doubling internet coupons? Ours won’t anymore so that is a huge bummer.
I did this deal but only bought 5 of the Betty Crocker stuff and 2 things of cheese and with my ecoupons I spent $6.96. They were out of the ziploc baggies that worked with the coupon but am planning on going back and hoping they restock plus I want to buy more cheese.

Yep! They still double the IPs. Great job on your trip, too!!!

Which Safeways are doing doublers? Is it an Oregon thing? Here in Washington (Bainbridge Island) they don’t double. Is it an individual store thing?

Yes, it is just Oregon and SW Washington. Sorry!
