I know you have ALL been wondering if I have been shopping lately. You have been sitting at the edge of your seats just waiting for me to update my blog with a grocery score, huh?

Well, I don’t really know what happened, but the Week 4 grocery envelope emptied out really fast last week. Oh, yeah. I remember what happened. I got cocky and bought a bunch of meat last week. Hmm. Well, I was down to my last $1.25 (not enough to buy Sunday papers, darn it!) and yet there were deals CALLING MY NAME! I stole from the haircut envelope last night. I did. However, we got paid today, so I paid the envelope back. I just LOVE my pretty cash envelopes!!

Anywho! On Friday, I HAD to buy cookies for Grant’s class party, so I went shopping. OH, how I wish I had taken a picture of the trip. I got a bagful of groceries for absolutely free!! Paid $0 out of pocket!! The contents: Nestle chocolate chips, Treetop apple juice, Oreos, International Delight Creamer, feminine items, Fiber One Yogurt . . . and one more thing that I can’t remember. I actually had overage, but I didn’t have enough fillers, so the cashier took one of my coupons off and adjusted down so that I simply didn’t pay anything.

Last night, I did something REALLY dumb and took both boys shopping with me. Why is the shopping trip 10 bajillion times harder when I have the 6yo with me? I take the 3yo with me ALL the time, and he’s just fine, but then when I add the 6yo to the mix there is tripping, and imaginary sword fights and hugs in the middle of the isle . . . good grief.

This is what I bought:

I never would have bought the crackers if Grant hadn’t been with me. It was my bribe. However, I’m willing to pay .99¢ to keep the kid STILL.

The rice wasn’t really a fabulous deal, but I had a coupon, which doubled, so it ended up being $1.64, and I needed rice anyway.

The bread is on sale (ends today) for only 99¢ a loaf! Pretty cool.

The apples are on sale for 58¢ a pound.

Now, the Right Guard is a perfect example of purchasing something that you don’t actually use just so you can use the overage to buy something you DO use. My husband does not use Right Guard (although he might now, since I bought so much of it!), however it was on sale for $1.00. There are coupons out there on the internet (smartsource.com and coupons.com) for $2/2, which makes them FREE. I printed out two coupons from each site. In this first trip, I used 2 coupons and doubled them, which gave me an extra $1.00 of overage! Essentially, that paid for a loaf of bread! Kinda cool.

Today, I went back to get more apples, since I realized that these ones will probably be gone in 2 days. I checked my email before I left and noticed that Shortcuts.com has more ecoupons to load to my card! YAY! I loaded, I checked the blogs, I saw another link to the Right Guard coupon, and I was OFF!

I picked up this:

All of the YoPlus was free! And, so was the Fiber One Yogurt! I paid 20¢ (total) for the Yoplait. How? Ecoupons and Manufacturers coupons AND, the YoPlus was on clearance. I’m freezing it to use in smoothies! The cashier wouldn’t let me double the YoPlus coupons, otherwise my total would have been lower, but I’m pretty okay with my grand total. Oh, notice the free Right Guard?

The funny thing is, the apples were $1.91 and the potatoes were $1.29, which equals $3.20. Hmm . . . and yet I paid $2.40! Overage, people. It’s a good thing.

What a great deal!! I just cannot figure out how you do this…I went shopping and took all my coupons and adds and still come up owing way more…hmmm. Maybe it is a state thing? I live in Kansas and have not found a great site yet for couponing. I usually print the coupons onlone and load any grocry card coupons I can. I was wondering do you use multiple coupons for the same item?? Like buy one loaf of bread but use multiple coupons?? Any help would be appreciated.

Jenn, I definitely, absolutely use more than one coupon on each item. HOWEVER, you can’t use more than 1 manufacturer’s coupon on a single item. The way I do it is stack store coupons with MCs. Or, as is typically the case, I stack ecoupons (which no one ever sees anyway) with MCs and store coupons. For the Yoplait, there were actually 2 ecoupons from Cellfire on my card, and 2 ecoupons from Shortcuts. They ALL came off (-$2), plus I had a 40¢/6 MC from the Sunday paper, which doubled. That made all 6 yogurts just 20¢. The Fiber One was another ecoupon + MC + doubler.

    Sometimes everything just aligns perfectly!!

I didn’t realize you could stack e-coupons with MC coupons! Yay! Learning something new all the time! You should be able to print some more Right Guard coupons at coolsavings.com if the deal is still going on! Can always donate to a homeless shelter or Ronald McDonald House or somewhere if your hubby doesn’t like the brand.

I was going to ask what you do with the extra stuff you don’t want, but the comment above provided the answer. Wow.
