A Blue Door

A few weeks ago, I asked the Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs Facebook Fans what color I should paint my front door and you guys come up with some great color combos. See, we were getting ready to paint our house so that it would stay in one piece over the rainy winter months, and I felt like we needed a change. After all, if we were going to pay someone to paint the entire house, then I wanted to SEE the difference!!

Here is the BEFORE. Please keep in mind that we LOVED the house color before. Nothing wrong with it.

That would be me, with Cole in my tummy, soon after we finished some new landscaping over 5 years ago. People had been pulling up to the house looking at the paint colors ever since we built it. (Miller Paint: Pinedale 7076, by the way.) I can’t TELL you how many houses we see in our small town in this color! Crazy. In fact, two neighbors on our street painted their houses similar colors. Hey, imitation is the highest form of flattery, right? :)

I struggled to find a picture of our former door color, but hopefully this will work.

It’s Miller Paint: Mulberry. Basically, a maroon-ish colored door. I liked this color, too. It works well with the green.

However, I needed some CHANGE!!

This is what we ended up with:

No, it is not purple. It is tan.

The house is now painted Benjamin Moore Aura: Weimaraner (body) and Pashmina (accent).

My favorite part is the front door and furniture.

It is painted Benjamin Moore Aura: Schooner. I plan to make some lime green pillows for the chairs for summertime, and orange pillows for autumn. I can’t wait to dress up the door! I’ll be on the lookout for a great autumn inspired wreath! Can you imagine the gorgeous orange pop against the blue door? Eeek!

SO, although I didn’t go with some freakishly bright color for the front door (like I wanted to), I did get a bright pop of color in an otherwise rather conservative neighborhood. I’m very happy!

And now . . . I must address the lack of landscaping! Good grief! :)
