Sweet Birdhouse Template and Cutting Files!

23 March 2011 1,538 views No Comment

I am really excited to show off a brand new template I created this week!!

The Sweet Birdhouse Template Set and Cutting Files features an adorable little birdhouse with a scalloped roof and a tapered base in psd, png, pdf, svg, ai, dxf and jpg files.

I was completely inspired by a new kit that Mari Koegelenberg released this week called In The Birdhouse, and The Cutting Files by the same name (also by Mari) released last week. I love Mari’s work!! The little birdies are to die for!! I immediately wrote to her to ask if I could make a coordinating birdhouse! She loved the idea! Wahoo!!

SO, the sample I created is made with Mari’s kit and her In The Birdhouse cutting files. I printed the digital papers from Mari’s kit onto Epson Premium Presentation Paper Matte Double-Sided using my ancient HP Photosmart printer.

Aw, I just love it!! Here are a couple more angles:

The birdhouse goes together so smoothly that I’m not going to bother with a tutorial, however, let me show you how I did the roof. First of all, since I used the cutting files and decided to leave it solid (instead of the option of two different digital papers), I first used the “Break Apart” feature in SCAL to remove the middle of the roof. Then, I cut the whole thing with my Cricut.

For the roof, I folded the scalloped edge over and then did the following:

However, check out what my CT members did with their roofs!!

By Cathy. LOVE the flowers on top!! Notice that she did not notch the roof, and it looks adorable!! By the way, she used Mari’s In the Birdhouse stuff, too! Great minds!!

Heather used Mari’s kit and cutting files, too! Hee, hee!! LOVE the glitter!

And Christy used the In The Birdhouse kit, too! LOL!

Ah, well. What can I say? We were all totally inspired by Mari Koegelenberg!! She IS a hybrid artist, so she KNOWS what hybrid artists want in digital kits!! Perfect!

The Sweet Birdhouse Template Set and Cutting Files is on sale from now until Friday, so pick it up at a discount while you can!

I ended up hanging mine up on a stick in a vase full of sticks that I put on a dresser in my entry. It looks so springy!! Of course, it would look more springy if the sticks had leaves on them, but I’ll replace them when the trees bloom!! In the meantime, I’m lovin’ the low maintenance sticks. Perhaps I’ll glue paper flowers to them. Hmm . . . now, that’s an idea!
