A Photoshop Valentine’s Day!

Well, today is Valentine’s Day, and I totally outdid myself. See, I started this strange tradition a few years ago where I Photoshop some Valentines for my kids to take to school, and now it has morphed into a pressure-filled requirement.  In reality, I truly enjoy doing this for them, and I LOVE the look on their faces when they see what I have come up with, but let’s face it. I am NOT a Photoshop whiz, nor am I an extraction queen.  VERY far from it, actually.  However, I …

A Digital Layout: Camping 2010

I recently read, “If you only had 2 years to live, what would you do?”
Of course, my answer is different than if I had been asked what I would do if I only had one day or if I only had a week.
My answer is: I would make memories with my family and scrapbook them.
I am sad to admit that it has been a long time since I have scrapbooked.  And, the thing is that I really enjoy scrapbooking.  A lot. I think it is important to record family memories, …

July Nutshell

July was a month in which:

We attended a little friend’s birthday party.
We went to a Volcanoes baseball game and watched fireworks on the 4th of July.
(layout is linked to credits!)
We went to many track practices and delighted in the speed of our precious boys.  Grant tells me that he hums “Oh the deep, deep love of Jesus” in his head while he runs and it helps him win his races!
We watched the weirdest storyteller at the park as part of the library summer events thing.  I totally didn’t get it.
We …

Happy St. Patricks Day!

I’m Irish. I’ve got a funky Irish name with a Gaelic spelling . . . just in case you didn’t notice.  My mom is actually 100% Irish-American, while my dad is quite the mutt mix.  Oh, and I’m as pale as they come with a tinge of red to my hair if the light hits it just right . . . in it’s natural state, anyway.  So, I’m claiming my Irish side today.
I’m also a very lucky woman.

Grab Bags at The Digichick Again!!

Every few months, the designers at The Digichick design Grab Bags.  And, every single time, someone starts a thread in the designer forum where some newbie asks, “How much should I put in this thing?” and “How much should I price it at?”
I just gotta say that these “designer” types from The Digichick are putting WAY too much stuff in their Grab Bags, and they are pricing it WAY too low.  Seriously.  If you have ever purchased a Grab Bag from one of The Digichick designers, you know what I …

Nurturing Learning

There are times that I feel like a total mama failure (I remember the potty training days), and there are times that I feel like I’ve done something RIGHT! I’m just going to have to brag a little bit, so bear with me.
Grant (age 6) is really into learning.  He loves math and science.  Math is sort of a newer passion, but he’s been a science guy since he was about 2.
I think it all started with Finding Nemo.  He LOVED Bruce, the Great White Shark.  (“Name’s Bruce!”)  We actually …
