As promised, I’m here to show off some of the cool projects my CT made, BUT FIRST, you have to put up with another tutorial by ME! Ha!
Today, I’m going to show you how to put together the Pencil Box from my new Pencil Box Collection Template Set.
First, let me direct you to some pretty good tutorials found at The Hybrid Chick:
Where to Start – offers suggestions for basic materials to get you started with hybrid.
Using Templates – guides you through the process of using my templates from downloading to adding digital paper, and preparing to print.
Borderless Printing – shows you how to find your borderless printing option on your printer . . . or at least get you headed in the right direction.
Now, print your project! I decided to work with the box, rather than the pouch this time.
Of course, you can use digital paper or simply print the lines only version on some of the patterned paper or cardstock in your stash. That’s what I did, but before I printed I changed the color of my lines to a light blue so they would be less noticeable. Then, I scored on all of the dashed lines and cut on all the solid lines with my craft knife. I need a new one, by the way. Anyone want to send me a little gift? Hee, hee!
Next, fold on all of the scored lines:
Apply a dry adhesive to the 4 tapered tabs at the ends, and adhere to the inside.
Fold that little tab at the end over so it looks nice and neat! (Sorry I forgot to take a picture of that step, but you get it, right?)
Now, test to make sure your pencils will fit.
Yep! They fit! Remember that I used my borderless printing option on my printer so that my printer would not change the dimensions of the template. If your printer doesn’t have a borderless option, it might simply shrink down the template, and that’s okay, because look how much shorter a pen and a mechanical pencil are. It would totally work for either.
I decided that I wanted to use a magnetic closure by Basic Grey on this pencil box, but you could also use velcro, a ribbon, or a wrapping band (like I did on the 4×6 prints box).
And, here is my finished project! Cute, eh?

And, here is what they did with the Pencil Pouch!
What little kid wouldn’t be proud to present a little box of pencils to their new teacher? Especially if they look like this!!
I love my CT! I’ll happily drop everything to give them what they want if they keep creating such beautiful things!!

Very cute !

Hi Kelleigh! I love your designs!! I am working with your pencil box and trying to clip my digi paper to the whole box…but am unable to. I was able to clip it to each section ok. I’m sure I’m just doing something wrong, any hints? I did read through the “using Templates” help page.
