Hopefully you guys won’t think I am the CHEAPEST person in the world. I prefer the term “frugal”. Hee, hee!
Okay, so a couple of weekends ago we went up to Washington to visit with some of my family. I was looking for a last minute, totally frugal Christmas gift, and searched through my fully stocked pantry. (New readers: I’m a crazy coupon lady.) Remember all of the photos of the brownie mixes that I picked up for practically free back in September? And, have you noticed that I have been stocking up on chocolate chips lately (I must have about 7 bags!)? Well, I formulated a plan.
Oh, please don’t judge me. I’m just a busy mom. And, a bit of a faker. This is what I did:

I had to bounce the jar on the counter to get the brownie mix to settle enough so that there was room at the top of the jar for the chocolate chips. A lot. I think I ended up having enough room for about 1/4 C. of chocolate chips.

I just took some fabric I had already. Made it pretty!

That’s just a rubberband.

And some twine that I grabbed from the junk drawer I was standing next to at the time. But then, I did actually walk across the house to get some real ribbon and this label off the printer . . .

(Designing this tag would be the only un-lazy thing I did for this gift. BTW - I’m a digital scrapbooker, in case ya didn’t know.)
And, this is what I ended up with! Now, when the sweet neighbor lady comes by with a roll of cookie dough (yummy!), I can hand her this jar of brownie mix that I whipped up just for her! (Yeah, right. Thanks Betty C!)

Have you been stocking up on brownies and chocolate chips?
Do you need a last minute gift?
Can you fake it?
If so, then here ya go. Grab this 4×6 set of tags, print it out on your home printer (or upload to a photo processor) and fake it like me!
(Just click on the tags and it will take you to the download page.)
A special Thank You to Danielle Engebretson for permission to use paper and elements from her digital kit, Holly Jolly.
Come back tomorrow for a gift card holder freebie that I created with the same digital elements and my Mini Envelopes Template Set. It’s so cute!!
