Ah, yes. Garage Sale Day! I just love Fridays. I didn’t mention my plans to Mitch, though. He had no idea that I was planning to bring more junk in my home. Hee, hee! Well, okay, maybe he had a clue. I mean, it’s not every day that I am out of the shower by the time he comes home from playing basketball. And, I was sort of rushing to get the kids dressed and fed. So, maybe he had an inkling. But, actually, I think I’m sort of winning him over to my way of thinking. Yesterday he was on his way to work and he called me with the news that there was a metal cabinet on the side of the road for free. He thought it might work nicely for my scrapbooking stuff! Ahh. Love that man. Of course I picked it up. I’m actually planning to clean it up, paint it, and use it for toy storage in one of the boy’s rooms. Nice.

Anyway, back to the point of this post. My Friday Haul. Check it out!

Here’s the plan:

Paint the white shelf black (of course), and hang a dowel rod across the bottom for ribbon storage. I also have some ring clips that would work nicely for holding my sticker sheets and longer, flat items. Eeek! SO excited about that $2 shelf. I know, I paid more than I should have, but it was the start of the day, and I didn’t have the heart to talk her down.

The 3 silver buckets actually look like wine buckets. They were 50¢ each. Yay! They have those little knobby handles on both sides, but I’m going to turn them so that one knob faces forward, then tie a tag on them and put them on the shelf to hold supplies. I’m super excited about this, too!

That is another little wire silverware holder. This one was 50¢. I’m going to use it for camping stuff! I needed something like this, and it is perfect! Especially at that price.

And, a big stack of plastic plates for $1 for camping! That was on my list today, and I scored!

And then, there is this little guy. It forced me to go over my $5 spending limit. {sigh} But, I love it, and after all, “Buy what you love so you don’t have so much crud.” (Thanks again, Sarah. That line runs through my head every Friday.)

card catalog

What is it? A little card catalog thingy. It used to lock, but I don’t have a key. Nonetheless, it will be used well in this house. I don’t know what I will do with it, but I will NOT paint it. Look at the number! So cute! It could end up being the remote control holder. We’ll see! $1 baby. I tried to talk him down to 75¢, but the man was not having it. So, I had to pull out the change from the car, and went back and bought it.

And, check out what my oldest bought:

Grant'sHaul

Garage sales are always hard on him. He “hates it.” He’s “bored”. He wants to spend all kinds of money that he does not have. He sits in the car and sulks. Today, though, we may have had a breakthrough. I usually give the boys a quarter each. Cole pocketed his and put it in his bank once we got home. With Grant, though, money burns a hole in his pocket. He just HAS to find something.

I actually bought the book for him for 25¢ (he loves sharks), but he bought the rest and has money left over. The clipboard was 10¢, there is an adorable little bud vase that he bought for me for my birthday in the bag, and he got the moose that poops jelly beans (or m&ms in this family) for free. Ah, yes. Every little boy needs a moose that poops. He is so proud of himself! And, I’m excited to get that bud vase. This boy loves to pick me flowers.

SO, there ya have it. Now, I have to get to work doing the thing that Mitch thought I would be doing this morning . . . packing for the camping trip. I promise to take pictures this time. And, hopefully it doesn’t rain!

It’s so fun to hear what you’re going to do with all of it. I am chucking at your $5 spending limit and having to look through change. Last week, I though my hubby would have cash and he didn’t so I was very limited.
I spent all but $2 and then went to an amazing neighborhood sale. I went to around 10 sales just to use my $2, and so much I had to pass up….it was a bummer but funny to be pulling coins from out of the ash tray in desperation. :)

Great scores! I missed garage sales this weekend because I was driving up to Yakima on Friday morning. I’ll be on the prowl this week though!

Grace is always on the hunt for something pink. Ethan looks for balls and then throws a huge fit when he has to leave them behind. We have balls coming out our ears and do NOT need to buy every flat basketball we come across!
