Birthday Thoughts

21 June 2010 793 views 4 Comments

I am just shocked at how old I’m getting. I totally feel about 23 years old, and yet the calendar tells me that I am turning 34 on Wednesday. It’s crazy. And, it’s kinda funny when you consider that I figured I would be all grown up by now.

One thing I know for sure is that life is about growing and changing and maturing. Hopefully, anyway. I sure HOPE that I am growing as a person and improving as I mature. As a Christian, my goal is to become more and more Christ-like (following the way modeled to me by the life of Jesus Christ), and man do I struggle. I’ve caught myself doing the most immature things this last year (mostly with my unkind words and sassy thoughts), and it is embarrassing to me that at the age of (almost) 34 I can act like such a teenager. Does anyone else struggle with this?

I’m a goal-setter. I like to set goals and then achieve them. I like to work toward something and accomplish it. I like to check things off of my list (although I admit that my Motivated Moms calendar is stuck somewhere in May . . . must work on that!).

I love proving to myself and to the world that I CAN DO ANYTHING when I set my mind to it and work hard to achieve that goal.

My goal for year 34: Work on holding my tongue, being thoughtful with my words and slow to speak (which includes what I WRITE!).

Who knew that growing older was going to be so challenging?!!

One of the things I enjoy most about you, Kelleigh, and your blog is that you are honest. You aren’t afraid to admit a weakness and this post is no exception. I hope you never “grow up.” But I do hope you continue to grow. Does that make sense? I’ve been reading a book that you might be interested in. It’s called Love As A Way of Life, by Gary Chapman (I don’t know how to create a link in a comment). He talks about 7 values or attributes; Kindness, Patience, Courtesy, Humility, Generosity and Honesty that one can work on incorporating into their life as a way to improve relationships. I’ve not finished reading it, but I am really enjoying it.

I hope you have a wonderful birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! My b-day was on Tuesday and I turned………..39 (ack). Time flies and you don’t realize that your mind age and your body age may not be the same! LOL! But I always say…”With age comes wisdom” and I really believe that. Hope you had a great day!!!
