$2 Tuesday AND A Great Giveaway!!

16 March 2010 3,293 views 38 Comments

I’m a paper girl. I love it! I like to collect it and look at it and touch it. I imagine all of the home decor projects I could do with the paper and dream about wallpapering it all over my house. The cutting is the hard part for me. I’m always so freaked out that I will mess up and ruin the paper! And yet, when I actually take the risk and cut into my gorgeous paper, the result is beautiful. Oh, how I love paper!

Imagine my excitement when a package arrived for ME, containing a pack of girly-girl pink papers and a pretty stamp set by The Angel Company (TAC)!! Yippeeee! I was SO excited and ready to play!! {Pause:: In reality, I touched the paper and looked at it and smelled it and freaked out about cutting it and planned and hesitated …}

Then, last night, after much deliberation, I played.

Christina Franco, Independent Consultant for The Angel Company, sent me this awesome stuff:

You are looking at a pretty stamp set (Sprigs), and More Mimi Soar With It Collection paper pack (with cute little die-cut tags, too!!). You must forgive the picture. It does NOT do these papers justice!!

Here are the backs - oh, how I love two-sided cardstock!!

The paper is nice and thick, which is just perfect for papercraft projects. I ended up printing one of my templates on a sheet of the paper, and forgot to change the color of the lines to blend in before I printed. NO PROBLEM, though, because the paper was thick enough that I could sand away the lines with my sanding block. It gave my project a nice, distressed look.

Now, the stamp set was a new experience for me. I’ve used rubber stamps before, but I am more of an acrylic stamp gal. I like to be able to see through the block to make sure I’m placing the stamp just right. The TAC stamps come as you see them - on one sheet of rubber. They come with a foam pad that you peel and stick to the stamps. THEN, you cut the stamps out and peel off the other side of the foam pad and they are supposed to cling to your acrylic block. I’ve never done this before, so I had to ask Chris what to do. Thankfully, it was a super easy process (duh!). I was really surprised that they actually do stick to my acrylic blocks because the side that “clings” isn’t the least bit sticky. I think it stays put because of static (??), but in any case, it totally works!! (You die-hard stampers out there are laughing at me right now, aren’t you?) The best part is that I could still see exactly where I was placing the stamp because I used an acrylic block and not a chunk of wood! Okay, The Angel Company, you sold me. I thought I would never in a bajillion years use a rubber stamp again, but this cling thing is a great compromise!!

This is what I ended up making (and notice that the colors in these pictures are MUCH better! LOL!):

{sigh} Isn’t it pretty? The flower on the box is by Prima, and the rest of the embellies are by CTMH, Prima and Kaisercraft.

I used my Wave Box Template Set, which is perfect for holding a set of 3×5 greeting cards (or recipe cards, or a small present). I’ve put the Wave Box on sale for $2 Tuesday so you can try it out yourself!

And now for the giveaway!!

Christina has generously donated a $15 shopping credit toward the purchase of anything in her online store at The Angel Company!! Wahooooo! And, $15 will go a long way, people. Think of all the fun stuff you could pick up!

To sweeten the deal, the winner will also get a $5 gift certificate to my store at The Digichick so you can play with your new paper!!

All you have to do is visit Christina’s store and come back and tell me what is tempting you over there.

    I love how your cards and little box turned out with the paper. I went to the site and looked through all of the “soar with it collection” - since I am interested in the 12×12 or 8.5×11 double sided card stock. i like either MIA’S COTTAGE (single sided) or MORE MIMI.

    Thanks for a chance to win!
