WHITE. Everything is just SO white.

In my recent “obsession” (oh, that’s such a strong word . . .) with re-decorating my not-very-decorated-to-begin-with house, Mitch and I have had many late night talks. No, not the BAD kinds of talks. The fun talks. You know, the dreamy talks where you get to tell your husband all about your fun/exciting/scary/bold decorating ideas and he sits there and listens to you (which you can tell, because he is looking at you and nodding and contributing his 2¢ when appropriate). My love language. Truly. {sigh}

Anyway, we had one such talk on Friday night. During the course of the evening, we determined:

•That if all 4 chairs show up at the same time (at Cost Plus), and if I am able to save all of my PayPal money this month, then I will most likely be able to purchase all 4 chairs at the same time. Sort of freaky. Exciting. A commitment. Yikes!

•That we really want our entertainment armoire, that has been housing our television in our family room BACK in our bedroom where it belongs.

•That our bedroom wouldn’t take too long to update/redecorate. Change the blue wall to aqua, hang the curtain rods all the way to the ceiling, tack some fabric to the top or bottom of the existing panels (with a glue gun ala The Nester), find a bookshelf to house our out-of-control bedside reading material, candles for the sconces, maybe new sheets or pillowcases, and done. Of course, I have to go get the paint, which could take me a while. We’ll see!

There was a lot more, but I’m tired of talking in bullet points. Anyway, Saturday morning I took off for a little quiet shopping time (to Craft Warehouse) all by myself. I bought some fabric for a room in our house. Didn’t know which room at the time, but we have now determined that it would work very well for our bedroom. (Whew!) And, I bought 8 yards of burlap. EIGHT yards. Because I can’t really do math. Even though I was very careful and used a calculator. My brain (obviously) had not benefited from any caffeine at the critical “time to cut” moment, but it was SUPER cheap, so I won’t fret. I thought I would try out the burlap on my windows as seen here and here. Still trying to determine if that would work for me. Maybe in the family room? I don’t know. But, still, I figured the burlap purchase wouldn’t be such a bad idea, since I planned to cover all of my bulletin boards with it like this gal did here. (Oh, you are all loving my linking, huh?)

SO, I came home from my shopping trip and entered a world of WHITE. See, I have already taken my red curtains down (it’s hard to “see” beyond the red), and while I was gone, Mitch moved the armoire back into our bedroom. So, now we have a wall of white (truthfully, it is tan, but it really LOOKS white in the bright light). It really does feel like we just moved into our house. We have lived here for 4 years now, and it looks like we just moved in. No furniture. No character. Ugh. Still, it is a “fresh surface”, right?

Gotta get some color up. I’m dying here.
