September Vintage Was Awesome!
And, I have the pictures to prove it!
You know how I left the last blog post with something like “I have to leave right now or I’ll be late”?? I was late. But, only 10 minutes. There were FOOTBALL games, if you can believe that. All of these football crazy fans were crowding the freeway. Stress.
But, anyway, I made it. It was so cool! The event was held at Jill’s house, which is just amazing and chock full of vintage goodness. If you are local, you should totally go to one of her “come play” events. You would love it! The class was taught by Michelle, and we made THE coolest little mini album. It was a technique that I have not tried before, and I can’t wait to finish it! (I’ll post pics when I do!)
I hung out with Jill and Michelle quite a bit at the antique fair, and I must say that these ladies have an EYE for vintage paper/scrapbooking relevant stuff! Amazing! I learned quite a bit about where to look for this stuff. Still, my eyes naturally gravitate toward stuff for my home . . .
This is the group of women who attended the second session:
Most of the gals were actually from Washington, if you can believe that! I felt a little foolish that I was late, when I only had to drive about 2 hrs. It was a fun group!
Me and Ali:
(Yes, I felt dumb asking for a picture with her, but I figured my blog reading audience would want proof.)
If you are a digital scrapbooker, and you don’t know who Ali is (and really, you should, because you probably use her handwriting CK_AlisWriting, and she sells at Designer Digitals), THAT IS OKAY, because I met Tricia from Cocoa Daisy, and I didn’t really know who she was. NOW, I realize that she is a big time, hot-shot gal that paper scrapbookers would probably DIE to meet, but to me she was just a regular nice lady . . . who told me a little bit about an upcoming project she is working on involving some HUGE names in the industry! And, then I put 2 and 2 together. I would have loved to have more time to talk with her! I think we could be great friends!
I did get a chance to talk with Ali a bit during the class and at the Coburg Antique Fair. Again, a totally nice lady. I’m pretty sure she still has NO idea who I am (even though we were both mentioned on the same line in this post at The Daily Digi!). I forgot to tell her that I was the Editor-In-Chief of the DST Insider (until I resigned this month), and we featured her in my last issue! Oh, well. We both live in the same state, so perhaps we will meet again some time!
I also met Emily, who is SO sweet and is actually friends with my doctor (who happens to be in our Bible Study small group, too!). Small world! I hope that she takes me up on my offer to swing by when she is in town!
Look at all of this amazing stuff I got!
Most of that is from the September Cocoa Daisy kit! Eek! I hope I can get up the courage to CUT it!!
And, check out what I picked up at the Coburg Antique Fair!
I decided to adopt a number: 4. Because there are Four people in our family. Just makes sense. I LOVE the cash register flag! Then, later on I found the standing 4. Cool. The rest of the little things were just fun to find! Those buttons will be great adornments for the Amy Butler Swing Bags I made a while back. I’m pretty sure I’m going to change the “G.D.” next to the “Bills” on the big clip . . . because I just can’t seem to get a certain phrase out of my head. Perhaps it was intended to mean that certain phrase . . . I don’t know.
I went to the fair in the hopes that I would find some vintage locker baskets with little numbers on them, like this:
I only found one that was in my price range. And, NOW, I wish I had just coughed up the money (or negotiated on the price) for a few more like this one, but instead I brought home this whole group:
I really like the variety! I’m so excited to use these on bookshelves and next to chairs. I’m thinking about adding a fabric liner, but I’m waiting to see all of the new funky fabric that will come out in the next couple of months. HOPEFULLY there will be something that kind of goes with my home’s colors (or lack thereof, at the moment), with a splash of orange (because I can’t get orange out of my head!).
One thing I know, is that I WILL attend the Coburg Antique Fair next year. What a blast that was! Booth after booth of scrumptious vintage stuff. Gets me in the mood for this weekends’ sale at my favorite vintage furniture store in Salem, Serendipity. Yay!
Oh, and does anyone know what I can spray these baskets with that will sort of seal them so that the rust doesn’t rub off? I LIKE the rustic rust, so I don’t think I want to paint them, but I want to protect my other stuff. Someone suggested a clear non-yellowing varnish. What do you think?

I totally would’ve asked Ali for a picture, too. Ha!
I am all about going to the antique fair next year – hard not to when I can just hop on the freeway and be there in an hour or so!
