Safeway on the Weekend
Safeway usually has a couple of great deals at stock-up prices on the weekends. The trick is that you have to wait until the weekend to buy them. SO many people glance at the ad and then buy the “weekend only” item in the middle of the week thinking that they are getting the great sale price, but they are not. But, hey. It’s working for Safeway. They are probably counting on that kind of thing happening.
Anywho! So, I shopped today.
Yes. That would be “junk pizza”. Go ahead and judge me, but I love that stuff. Brings back memories of visiting my sister in her off-campus apartment in college.
The Totino’s Pizzas are 99¢ this weekend. Now, YES you can make your own pizza for just a few bucks (I’m actually making my wonderful BBQ Chicken Pizza with whole wheat pizza dough for dinner tonight!), however . . . Totino’s is just so yummy! Those perfectly square bits of Canadian Bacon melt in your mouth. Hee, hee! It has been years since I’ve had this stuff, and I’m not sure that my children have ever had it, so I’ll be corrupting their taste buds for lunch sometime soon.
Anyway.
Totino’s – 99¢ each
Buy 5
Use (1) $1/5 Manufacturer’s Coupon from the Target site (KCL has it listed as .50/1, but that is a typo), because it CAN be doubled (some of the other ones can’t) and it doesn’t have the Target logo, BTW (not that it matters, since Safeway should take it anyway if it is a MC).
Use $1/5 ecoupon (cellfire.com)
Use $1/5 ecoupon (shortcuts.com)
The most you should pay OOP is $1.45, however I had THREE ecoupons on my card, and they ALL came off! So, I ended up paying 45¢ total, for all 5 pizzas!
If I had bought one pizza – 99¢. Hmmm . . . it pays to know what you are doing.
(By the way, this lady in the checkout lane next to me had Tony’s pizzas in her cart. First off, yuck. Second, makes me wonder if she thought they were the pizzas on sale! Or, maybe she has fond memories of visiting her sister at her off-campus apartment and eating Tony’s pizza. Whatev!)
Other deals worth mentioning: The Nabisco Saltines were also on weekend only sale for $1.50 each. I had some $1/1 coupons (do not double) that I got from a tearpad a couple of weeks ago. Wish I had picked up more coupons! Oh, well. SO, the crackers were 50¢ each. By the way, don’t ever pay more than 50¢ for a box of Nabisco Saltines, if you can help it. This is not a very unusual deal. We’ll be seeing more cracker deals as we get closer to the holidays.
The grapes were 98¢ a pound. Sweet. Those will be gone before we go to bed tonight.
The Sargento sliced cheese is on sale with an in-ad coupon for $1.99. Use a 55¢/1 MC + a 55¢/1 ecoupon + doubler and the cheese cost me 39¢.
My final bill came to $6.75 for everything show above. When you consider that the milk, grapes and onion cost me $4.91, that means that the pizza, cheese and crackers cost me $1.84 (and $1 of that was for the crackers).
I’ll take it!
Did I miss any great deals at Safeway this week?

That is astounding. I wish we had Safeway here in Florida instead of WalMart. There were times when I was raising my 4 kids that the Totino’s pizzas were a lifesavor for a single mom. They thought it was a treat when they got to eat them. So Totino’s has a place in my heart.

ok seriously…I wait to see what deals you did and then I go shopping! I scored on the peanut butter today and the 100 calorie cookies. I, too, am stocking up for school lunches!
