I totally lied.

So, yesterday (Friday), I told you all that I never go to garage sales on Saturdays. Well, I lied. See, my friend Amber (who, incidentally, was THE person who bought the $3 table that should have been mine . . . or maybe not) called me yesterday to brag about her garage sale finds and tell me about another sale in her old neighborhood starting at 8:00am on Saturday. I totally wasn’t planning to go. But then, a kid wapped me in the face at 6:00am and I had to pee, so I got up early this morning. I wasted time reading blogs. I checked my favorite forums. I got bored. At 7:50, I brushed my teeth, threw on some clothes and whispered to my husband (who was draped with sleeping children), “I’m going to the garage sale!” He peeked at me, so I took that as, “Cool.”
I considered stopping by for a Dutch Bros, but I kept going. I thought about the lack of money shoved into my pockets (leftover from yesterday’s $5 budget) and thought about stopping by the bank, but I kept going. I arrived in the neighborhood at exactly 8:00 and was the first one there at two different sales.
I’m gonna go ahead and skip to the juicies, okay?
Look:
What do we have here? Hmmm . . . well, first, a cute woven basket. It is currently holding my adhesive stash on my table in my scrap room. Total cost: $0. Yeah, it was from the FREE box. I asked them what the catch was. Did a cat pee on this basket? Nope. It was clean. However, I did hose it off, just in case. But, it is seriously cute! This pic does not do it justice.
That brown piece of wooden furniture is actually a magazine rack. Oh, you can tell, huh? Well, did you know that it is also a little side table?
You’ll be happy to know that I have ALREADY painted it black and it is currently sitting in my bedroom just waiting to find a permanent home. So, how much? $1 baby!
Next, you see a towel rack, also already painted black and currently sitting on my kitchen counter holding towels! It’s a little tall, but we’ll see what I think after a few days. However, for $1, I decided to take the risk.
And, finally, a little galvanized tub thingy. 10¢ Already holding my punches in my scrap room.
So, yes, I do have some money left over from my garage sale weekend budget! I think . . . 5¢, although I found two dimes in the laundry, so I actually have 25¢ in my pocket. I’m so proud!
As I mentioned, I did a little painting. Look:
Oh, ye of little faith. Yeah, I wondered about the tacky Tijuana fork and spoon that I bought yesterday, but I think we can agree that it looks good painted black and hung on the wall!
Okay, so link me up to your weekend garage sale wonders!!

Kelleigh, you are SO fun! (and funny) I love seeing what you have done with some of your garage sale finds. I like your fork/spoon on the wall. And I never, ever, in a million years, see the potential in stuff like this. Maybe, if you keep sharing what you find and how you dress it up, I might, someday, maybe, possibly develop a teensy, tiny bit of an eye. So, in the hopes of that ever happening…keep sharing!

Which neighborhood did you hit up? I found my score way west off Ellendale in a neighborhood I hadn’t been to before. I will visit more often on Friday mornings now that I know it exists though!

hey kelleigh – i love the way the fork and the spoon turned out! really cute ! i was actually thinking about them yesterday – and do you know what i think would be super cute with them? to get an open frame (painted black of course) to put on the outside of them – like they are framed art? (i’m thinking of the frame that monica and rachel had on their door around their peephole in friends – LOL – i always loved that! ) what do you think ?!

I am sorry that I bought the table before you…I knew you would be proud of the deal that I got. I can’t wait to see the new and improved Ratzlaff manor.
