He did it!!

So, last night Grant and I were talking about our family and he told me how much he loves me. Then he said, “You know who else I love Mom? Jesus.” I asked him why he loves Jesus and he started telling me all the reasons: Because he loves me. He forgives me. He died on the cross for me. He wants me to do what is right. He protects me. Grant had a pretty good list going.

Then, I asked him if Jesus lives in his heart. We have talked about this MANY times and sometimes he says he is shy and will ask him later. Sometimes he says, yeah, I already asked him. Who knows? When I asked him this time, he said no. I asked him if he wanted to pray and ask Jesus to live in his heart right now. He said, “Hmm . . . maybe tomorrow.” I told him that right now is a perfect time and that I could help him with the words. He agreed.

We sat on the couch together with our heads bowed while I led my oldest son in the sinners prayer. He repeated after me and ad libbed a little. It was very sincere. Cole, who is very familiar with praying, came over and put his head on my lap and touched his brother and closed his eyes until we were done. Precious.

So, does he understand? I think so. He can certainly tell me all about Jesus: his birth, his life, his death and his resurrection. We have conversations about that stuff all the time. His faith is strong and pure, innocent and untested. He will need guidance as he is molded into God’s image. As parents, Mitch and I are giddy to fulfill the role God has given us.

What an exciting event this was for us. One that I hope Grant will remember forever.

That is so sweet Kelleigh. It’s amazing how open kids hearts are to Jesus.

A couple weeks ago the kids were in church service and we had the “invitation” call to accept JEsus and Will raised his hand and went up. Although he has done it before a few times with Dad, and at VBS, it was just really special this time, for some reason, and it brought tears to my eyes. Later I heard hium talking about it to Wyatt and encouraging him to ask Jesus in his heart next time. So sweet and funny at the same time.

I love how Cole just came right over and joined you. What a special, unforgettable moment.

This brought tears to my eyes. I can’t wait until Bronson’s wonderful day comes, for now I just take every moment in such awe on God’s perfect little miracle.

Wow! That’s my Grandson, and my girl. Kelleigh, you and Mitch are amazing parents. You make a dad proud. If the world could only understand the purity of this event.
