Computer issues . . . ack! Rite Aid SCORE!!

12 October 2009 1,350 views 6 Comments

I am just DYING right now {dramatic sigh}.  We had a little power surge or something like that yesterday, and ever since then I’ve had computer issues.  Photoshop won’t open AT ALL, I can’t print ANYTHING from any application, and I can’t upload photos from my camera.  These are pretty essential to my job.  What is a girl to do?

{sigh}

Laundry.  At least the laundry will be done today.

AND, I went to Rite Aid.

{insert amazing picture of all of the glorious items I picked up at an itty-bitty-tiny fraction of the regular retail price}

EDT: Here is that amazing picture!!

I’ll just tell you what I did.  See, yesterday, I picked up 3 boxes of my preferred hair color (Garnier Nutrise), two packages of Mitch’s preferred razors (Schick Extreme 3) and 2 boxes of Airwick Freshmatic Ultra.  I paid a whopping $10.93.  So, basically, I spent $1.56 per item.  Not bad, not bad.  Other gals spend $80 or more to color their hair.  I spend $1.56.  Oh, and my stylist (whose email address is “haircolordiva”) says to keep using it because it looks great . . . although she would love to do some highlights.  (Eh.  Eventually, I suppose.  When I’m a bajillionaire.)

I couldn’t sleep last night.  The numbers kept racing through my head.  I figured out a way to get a bunch more of those Airwicks for pennies!  In my humble opinion, the Airwick Ultra is WAY too huge and noticeable to be used around the house.  It screams “take me to Mitch’s office and stick me up behind the wall in an unobtrusive location where I can work my smell-good magic!”  He gets some stanky people in his office.  (Whoops!  Probably shouldn’t have posted that.  But, hey, you guys know what I mean, right?  Eye-watering smells?)

However, the mini versions would do quite nicely in my home (if somehow hidden behind the toilet or something).

This is what I did at Rite Aid this morning:

Transaction 1:
Buy 5 Mini Freshmatics (on sale – 50% off – $4.99 each)
Buy 1 Ultra Freshmatic (on sale – 50% off – $6.49 each)
Total before coupons= $31.44

Use $5 off Purchase of $25 (Rite Aid Coupon – hand to cashier first)
Use 5 -$4 off coupons for the Mini’s (found in yesterday’s paper and a Sunday paper from a couple of weeks ago)
Use 1 -$6 off coupon for the Ultra
Total out of pocket = .44¢  (YES, you read that correctly.  Fourty-four CENTS.)

Transaction 2:
Buy 4 Minis
Buy 2 Ultras
Buy 1 Mike and Ike candy for .24¢ to take care of any overage.

Use $5/25 coupon
Use 4- $4 coupons
Use 2- $6 coupons
Pay .18¢ out of pocket.  EIGHTEEN CENTS!

OH, if my camera would only speak to my computer.  Then you would see the huge stash of freshness. However, picture these in mass quantities . . .

200mini200

Now, if all of that sounds pretty good to you, let me just sweeten the deal.

Rite Aid has a rebate program (where you pay for the product out of pocket, and then send in your rebates – online form- and they send you a check in the mail) AND they are running a fun Gift Of Savings program where they give you $ for spending $.

Spend $25-$50 and get $5 back
Spend $50-$100 and get $10 back
Spend over $100 and get $20 back

The cool thing is that they take into account the amount spent BEFORE coupons.
So, this month I have made 4 transactions.
T1= $6.94 OOP (Out of Pocket) (bought razor, toothbrush and 4 bags of Chex Mix) – will get back $7.69 in Rebates (read that again, please!)
T2= $10.93 OOP (for all that hair color and razors!)
T3= .44¢ OOP
T4= .18¢ OOP

My total spent BEFORE coupons was $114.24.
I spent $18.49 OOP this month.
I’m getting $7.69 back in Rebates.
I’m also getting $20 back for spending over $100.

HELLO!?! I made $9.20 . . . and got a ton of free stuff.

    Great score! I just got over the $100 mark for the Fall Savings Program yesterday when I scored my free cold meds. Which by the way, work pretty good as I’m finding out. I agree the Ultra ones are a bit big, but I have mine on a high shelf in my laundry room and I’d rather glance up at it then smell kitty litter. Icky. I have a bunch of $4/1 coupons for the regular ones I need to use.

    Awesome Kelleigh! I have gotten a bunch of air fresheners over the past couple of months, too! I didn’t think the mini freshmatics would work with the coupons. Were they the i-motion coupons that keep showing up in the papers?

    :-) Did you check out my post yesterday? You should look at my profile!
