The Grocery Isle is My Catwalk.

The Krazy Coupon Lady has a fun saying: Make the grocery isle your catwalk. I totally felt like that tonight as I took advantage of one of the Safeway weekend only deals.

I DO NOT need salad dressing.  I have so much of it that I’m starting to feel like a hoarder.  However, when it makes me money, I’ll (kinda reluctantly) buy it.  (And, I have plans to donate some, because OH MY GOSH.  It’s sick.)

(Sorry about the blurry pic!  My son made popcorn while I went shopping and daddy mowed the lawn.  Talk about a mess on the counter!!  However, I’m proud of his independence.)

Kraft Salad Dressing is on sale for $1.29 this weekend. Good price for regular folks, but obviously ridiculous for extreme couponers.  Can I get an amen?  Couponers don’t PAY for salad dressing!  The very thought makes us laugh!!

Anywho!  Like I said, Kraft was on sale for $1.29.  I used:
$1/1 Safeway Store Coupon from the Get Out and Grill coupon book
$1/1 Manufacturer’s Coupon from the Make it a Sandwich coupon book (DND) (and I can’t find a link to the picture for you!)
(Both coupon books are still available on the seafood counter at my local Safeway.  The coupons in the Sandwich book expire 8/31, and the ones in the Grill book expire 9/7.)

It’s the classic Double-Dip scenario.  You CAN use a store coupon with a manufacturer’s coupon.  Even without the doubler, I still made 71¢ per bottle.

What else?

Carrots are $1.09.  I used the $1 off any produce item store coupon from the Sandwich book (min $5 store purchase – this is before coupons but after club card savings).  So, carrots for 9¢. Cole will be quite happy.  The child HAS to have his carrots or he gets grumpy.

The Del Monte smoothie thingies were another moneymaker for me. The Krazy Coupon Lady told us about the free smoothies today, and since Oregon Safeways double MCs (up to 50¢ and 4 per transaction), I made 50¢.  (I only had her double one.  You’ll see why in a sec.)

I am paranoid that I am going to run out of mayonnaise before next spring, and there haven’t been any good mayo sales.  Mayonnaise is expensive, people!  And, my kids are meat and cheese sandwich eaters rather than PB&J eaters.  My 4 small containers of peanut butter will last me until next summer.  Mayonnaise is another story.

SO, since the coupons from the Sandwich book are expiring on 8/31, I felt like I should use the $1/1 Kraft Mayo MC (DND) now.  Plus, the Grill book has a $1/1 Store coupon.  Double dippin’ again!

The big things of Kraft mayo are $2.99 (good grief!).  The squirt Olive Oil kind are $2.49.  The Sandwich Shop kind are $1.99.  Since the MC is Do Not Double, you would only take $2 off.  Do the math here.  The Sandwich Shop is free (and the hot and spicy is good!).  However, I needed regular stuff.  However, with ranch dressing in my cart and staring at the mayonnaise, I was starting to feel fat, so I went with the light version.  Please tell me this light kind doesn’t taste all sour like the light version from the 90s!!  I’m taking a risk here.

With the overage from the cursed dressing, the whole transaction went like this:

2 Kraft Mayo – $5.98
2 Kraft Dressing – $2.58
2 Del Monte Smoothie thingies – $2
1 bag of carrots – $1.09
- (2) $1/1 MC for dressing (Sandwich book)
- (2) $1/1 MC for Mayo (Sandwich book)
- (2) $1/1 Store coupon for dressing (Grill book)
- (2) $1/1 Store coupon for Mayo
- $1/1 Store coupon for produce
– (2) $1/1 Del Monte Smoothies MC (printable linked up at KCL)
- 50¢ – Safeway doubler
= 15¢  FIFTEEN CENTS, people! If I had tossed in a couple of oranges to absorb the overage, I could have had her double both Del Monte MCs.  However, I figured it would be awkward to have her PAY me 35¢ (and against store policy), so I had her take the second doubler off.  Hee, hee!

Yes.  All of that for fifteen cents out of pocket.  Now do you see why The Grocery Isle is My Catwalk?

Okay, I went looking for those fruit smoothies at the Safeway in Damascus and could not find them . .. help! I want them . . . where did you find them?! I even bought some coupons on ebay since our SS 8/15 did not have them in our papers. My kids would eat smoothies everyday for lunch and dinner if I let them. Ahh! I could not find them with all the other fruit smoothies in the frozen juice section. Help! I must have free fruit smoothies. (Okay so going a bit overboard, but I do plan on making some moola with those coupons!)

And by the way, you can also make some great money at Albertsons with Kraft Salad dressing starting on Sunday . . . Here is my plan:

Buy 5 Kraft Salad Dressings at $1.34
Use 3 $1/1 from Make it a Sandwich Booklet
Use 3 Twice the Value Coupons (Albertsons will still double the DND coupons!)
Pay $0.67 and then receive a $5 CAT!!!!

I plan on doing this a couple times and buying me some meat and produce with those CATS!

Krista, they are in the produce section near the packaged salads and fruit bowls. Crazy place, huh? I hope you make some $$!! I just used the printable since we didn’t get the coupon either.

Good luck at Albertsons!! Oh, how I wish I had one closer to me!! SUCH great deals!

Wow! Trying to follow your post makes my head spin, but I am SO impressed!

While I may not ever be a crazy coupon lady like you, I will start to follow the circulars a little more closely to find some deals to reduce my grocery budget. Please don’t take it the wrong way, but I cannot yet seem to wrap my head around having so much salad dressing that I would have to give some away in order to get a deal. It’s not you, it’s me. The numbers don’t lie, though…you score some fabulous deals!! That is absolutely awesome!

Jeanne, if you lived close by, I’d give some to you!! I’ve already given some to my MIL and plan to give some to the gals at MOPS, too. You can’t believe how excited people get when I give them dressing!! Hee, hee!

YOU ROCK! I wish I lived in OR in order to get the double coupons. I went yesterday to Safeway and was still thrilled with what I spend for what I got. 5 boxes of general mills cereal for under $5 was good for me!

    Thanks for sharing your expertise!

Oh and BTW, if you are ever bringing a meal to a family in need, I always throw in a salad bag or mixed greens with their casserole, so these bottles of dressing come in handy for that!

Great deal! I’m new to couponing and dream of becoming that good. My biggest problem is determining what is a good stock up price (i.e like you don’t pay for dressing. Do you have any suggestions or can you direct me somewhere to help me with this?

I just threw out my list that I was using! I printed it out from some comments on a post about Stock Up Prices at Krazy Coupon Lady. I honestly don’t know TOO much right now though, either. My basic rule of thumb is if I can get it for pennies, then I’ll stock up. But, not too much until I really know what I am doing. Since sales are cyclical, I know that the same deal will come back around in a few months anyway. Plus, I’m figuring out what my family will actually use. For example, I am thankful that I only bought 4 peanut butters last Fall (even though at the time I was sad that the gal in front of me grabbed about 10 of them and only left me with 4), because I still have one left. Now I know to only buy 4 peanut butters a year.

I think that you just learn the stock up prices by trial and error! KCL is starting to put a stock-up sign next to their match-ups, though. You could try that!
