Went to Safeway this morning to take advantage of several back-to-back promotions. I can’t believe how many people were there! It was really crazy. The clerks couldn’t believe it either, so I know that it was unusual. I did bump into a couple of other couponers, however my checker told me that there were some super serious gals in at about 6:30. WOW! I’m impressed.
Anywho. I don’t typically post my real grocery shopping trips (because they are a bit boring), but I thought I’d show you what I CAN accomplish buying REAL food with my coupons.
So, yes, I may have spent more than I needed to. However, Tillamook Cheese is sort of a necessity around here. I do buy the off brand, but it hurts, so I have to come back to Tillamook goodness. I also bought a turkey, which is a pretty major purchase. I’ve never cooked a turkey before, but now is the time to learn! Can you imagine having all of that meat for enchiladas, turkey noodle soup, turkey asian wraps, etc? Yum! And, yes, those are Grape Nuts back there. GRAPE NUTS!!! I never thought I’d buy a box of grape nuts before couponing. We love Grape Nuts, but they are expensive, so we never buy them. However, when all is said and done, I got them for 20¢ a box. Yee-Haw! By saving money on non-perishable items, I felt comfortable forking over the 99¢ for fresh celery. (Hee, hee!)
I can’t exactly say that this is a normal shopping trip, because I spent more than I usually do on a week’s worth (or more!) of groceries, but I really, really wanted that Kohls cash!
