AND, you can get in on it, too!!  Just hop over to the JUGs Challenge Blog.  This week they are challenging you to make a project using a template, with a bonus challenge of using the color blue.  Many of my blog readers already own one (or more!) of my templates (and I love you for it!!), so this should be easy-peasy, right?  If you win (wahoo!!), you will be awarded $15 to spend in my store!!  YAY!!  To make it even sweeter, all challenge participants will receive a store discount!  Head on over to the JUGs blog for more details on how to play.

Wanna see what I made?  Oh, I love it!!  SO much!!  I hope my momma likes it too, because I sent it to her for Christmas!  Hee, hee!

I made all of my immediate family members some event calendars so we could remember birthdays!  All of the siblings just got the calendar, but my mom and dad got the box, too!  Hee, hee!

I made the calendar using the Mini Planners Template by Wendyzine Scraps and the Seasons of Love digital papers and elements by Elises Pieces.  The box was created with my Squared Off Correspondence Box and Envelope Template Set (whew!  Fancy name.) with some of Elise’s digital papers printed out onto matte photo paper.  Since I used digital papers, I “clipped” the papers to the template, changed the colors of the lines to blend in nicely, printed it out, then flipped the page over and printed a coordinating paper on the back.  (I have a tutorial on how to use my templates digitally RIGHT HERE on The Hybrid Chick blog!)

The Correspondence Box was originally designed to hold standard sized (4.25in x 5.5 in) cards, so it worked perfectly for this project, which is also 4.25in x 5.5 in!

What else am I using?  A flower by Kaisercraft, a felt snowflake and rhinestone by Close To My Heart, punches by Martha Stewart Crafts, Say it in Crystals by Prima, a little bit of see-through Velcro to hold the box closed, and a random brad that I took off of a wedding invitation years ago.  (I do that.  Don’t you?)

$2 Tuesday and a Challenge Using The Gable Box Template! is a post from: Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs

The Drop Ornament Template Set contains 2 templates in all of the formats you are used to:  layered psd (for digi gals who use Photoshop), png (for people who use photo editing programs that can’t open Photoshop), and pdf format (for those of you who want to simply print the lines onto the back of your traditional paper).  My little sample uses the large version of the template, which is about 4 inches tall when assembled.  The smaller version is seriously adorable, at just around 2 inches.  SO cute!  Remember that this template is on sale for new release day!

Here is my sample!

I used digital patterned paper by Jen Wilson from her Holiday Avenue Collection.

As always, this ornament is super easy to put together!!

You just cut on the solid lines and score on the dashed lines.

Then, fold on all of the scored lines:

Now, add adhesive to the little tabs.

And then match up the edges to close!

30 Ornaments in 30 Days . . . Day 12! AND, a new release BLOG HOP! is a post from: Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs

For today’s ornament, I decided to go the “If I shove it in the tree, I can call it an ornament” route.

Mmmmm . . . lovely!

I used my Tall Box Template Set and some digital papers by Kelley Mickus, from the Grab Bag she will be releasing on Thursday.  (Good thing these gals don’t stalk my blog, or they would know that I’m giving you sneak peeks!!)

I have SO many ideas for using this template.  What I wanted to do was poke a hole through the top and bottom, then string some satin ribbon through the holes, adorned with beads, of course.  Then the lid could open and close by sliding along the ribbon.  Wouldn’t that be pretty?

However, I didn’t have any satin ribbon, or pretty beads, so this is what you get.  It’s till gorgeous, though, festooned with that pretty Prima flower.  (I have a ton of those flowers, because I won a few of their contests last year.  I need the new ones, though.  I’m thinking that would make a great Christmas present from an adoring fan.)

Here’s a little tip:  Drag the lid and box templates onto an 8.5×11 canvas (in Photoshop Elements), then click and resize both pieces of the template at the same time so that the lid will fit the box when you shrink them down.

Mmmmm, so pretty!

I used my Take Out Box Template Set for this “ornament”, which happens to be ON SALE for $2 Tuesday!!  Go pick it up and make a bunch of these.  They are such an adorable ornament, don’t you think?

Okay, so I’m using the term “ornament” loosely here.  Really, anything that adorns the tree can be an ornament, though, right?  And, I shoved this little box onto my tree, so it’s now an ornament!  Love the logic.  Of course, if I’d had some pretty beads on hand, I would have made a pretty beaded wire hanger for it, but I didn’t have them.  So . . . I shoved.

But, I think you can agree that it is pretty!!

Three days down, 27 to go.

30 Ornaments in 30 Days . . . Day 3! is a post from: Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs

For today’s ornament, I used my Door Hanger Template Set to create a little box that can be hung on the tree to hold a gift card, cash, a coupon book for back-rubs, etc.  I also thought it would be a great starting point for a Christmas morning scavenger hunt.  Have you ever needed to hide a particularly big present elsewhere in the house?  If so, send the kids on a scavenger hunt, and leave the first clue in this little box.

Oh, I’ve got another idea:  This would be PERFECT for an advent calendar!!  AND, you can fit two boxes on a single sheet of 8.5×11 paper!

For the purpose of this little blog post, I tucked some printed gift tags inside from Danielle Engebretson’s Delights of December digital kit (which I can’t find anywhere to link you to!  Sorry!).

I cut a couple of slits in the back and ran a ribbon through it so that I could hang it from the tree.

Cute, eh?  You love this idea, don’t you?

30 Ornaments in 30 Days . . . Day 2! is a post from: Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs

I must be INSANE.  I’m actually going to attempt to show you 30 papercraft ornaments made from my templates in 30 days!  You MUST understand that I am a teeny-tiny bit lazy, so to commit to something like this is big.  Huge.  But, I have the first 2 days worth of ornaments done, so I guess I should start, eh?  {giggle!}  I’m hoping that my amazing Creative Team members help me out, because they are SO much more creative and artsy than me!

Let’s get started . . .

(digital papers from Frosty Fun by Pamela Donnis and Jacque Larsen – available at The Digichick, fibers by CTMH, and “Fun Flock” with a little glitter mixed in)

For this ornament, I used my Icicle Ornament Template Set.  The cool part about this set is that it comes in two sizes, and you can choose to have a fluttery top (as shown), or tuck those flutters to the inside to get a pointy top!  I believe I’m the first template designer to add the flutters to this classic template, so if you decide to keep them, your icicle will look super unique!

For even more fun, put a few little candies inside (maybe Holiday M&Ms), and tie on a name or number tag to begin your advent calendar!  I think I’m going to take this 30 ornaments in 30 days opportunity to create an advent calendar that will be hung on the tree.  Some ornaments will hold candies and some will hold slips of paper with fun family activities written on them.  How exciting!
